Program Overview Questions

What is Automated Cash Voucher (RedSail’s cash-pay patient affordability solution)?

This solution provides automatic point-of-sale savings for patients filling eligible prescriptions when paying cash. RedSail manages the entire process behind the scenes by evaluating prescriptions for eligibility, applying available vouchers instantly at the point of adjudication, and remitting the full buydown amount directly back to your pharmacy. This program helps save your patients money on cash prescriptions and helps the pharmacy keep a competitive edge against losing patients to other pharmacies or cash discount programs. Your pharmacy pricing stays intact, and your revenue is preserved.

How do Automated Cash Vouchers work?
  1. Your pharmacy controls pricing and will continue to set usual and customary (U&C) price. The voucher reduces the patient’s out-of-pocket cost without reducing your revenue. RedSail reimburses the full voucher amount directly to the pharmacy. There are no negative remits and no fees to your pharmacy.
  2. Integration is seamless. For every cash prescription, RedSail automatically checks eligibility and applies vouchers when available. Vouchers will appear on the prescription as a “plan pay amount” in both the remittance advice and your pharmacy management system.
  3. Finally, revenue is completely preserved. The patient payment plus the remittance from RedSail equals your original price, ensuring you receive 100% of what you intend to collect.
Why did RedSail create Automated Cash Vouchers?

On average, 20% of all prescriptions our pharmacy customers fill are paid for in cash. There is growing competition for cash customers from discount cards, digital and mail order pharmacies, and direct-to-consumer programs. Until now, independent pharmacies have been at a significant disadvantage when competing for these prescriptions. RedSail created this innovative solution to help independent pharmacies compete with programs threatening to steal or minimize the revenue from your cash patients.

With this new solution, you can support cash-pay patients while protecting your revenue and preserving your pricing autonomy. It reflects RedSail’s continued dedication to innovation and to the long-term success of independent pharmacies. We continue developing solutions by leveraging the scale of the RedSail network that help you adapt to industry changes, strengthen patient relationships, and grow your business sustainably.

What are the patient benefits?

In addition to discounted costs on medications, no enrollment or card/app downloads are required, simplifying the process and ensuring savings will always be applied when available. Plus, there’s no required sharing of patient-identifiable information.

How is this different from discount cards? Is this the same as TrumpRx or GoodRx?

This program is not tied to, and is fundamentally different from, discount cards like GoodRx and similar programs, where pharmacies often lose pricing control or experience negative remits and hidden costs.

With this program:

  1. Your pharmacy retains full pricing control.
  2. There are no fees for pharmacies or patients.
  3. Patient savings are funded and remitted directly by RedSail.

Participation Questions

Do I need to do anything to participate?

If your pharmacy is enrolled in RxAdvantage and you use the RxLocal BIN or BIN 021908 for RxCash+, no action is required. RedSail automatically evaluates each cash prescription for eligibility and applies vouchers at the point of sale when available. The offering will broaden to additional cash BINs as well as cash prescriptions without a BIN in coming months.

Which pharmacies can participate?

All pharmacies using PioneerRx, BestRx, QS/1, or PrimeRx that are enrolled in RxAdvantage – and use the RxLocal BIN or BIN 021908 for RxCash+ – are automatically included. Pharmacies using other PMS systems should contact RedSail to confirm eligibility. The offering will broaden to additional cash BINs as well as cash prescriptions without a BIN in coming months.

Are there any costs involved?

No. There are no fees for pharmacies or patients. Patients do not need to enroll or sign up. Vouchers apply automatically when eligible.

What makes a prescription eligible?

Eligibility varies by drug and patient and will change frequently. In general, this applies to brand-name medications paid for with cash. Prescriptions paid through insurance (including deductible-phase claims) or using another discount program are not eligible.

If I do not want to participate in Automated Cash Vouchers, can I opt out?

Yes. To opt out your pharmacy NPI, contact: RASEnrollment@redsailtechnologies.com and request to be unenrolled from Automated Cash Vouchers.

Process Questions

How and when will I receive payment?

RedSail will remit voucher amounts directly to your pharmacy approximately every 14 calendar days for pharmacies enrolled in ACH. Because Automated Cash Voucher is part of the RxAdvantage solution suite, payments will be bundled along with Automated Voucher and Automated Conversion. Pharmacies not enrolled in ACH receive paper checks monthly, which are subject to a $10 check fee. Note that the check fee is waived through June 2026 to allow time for ACH onboarding.

How will this look in my system?

For PioneerRx customers, your RxLocal plan has been converted to leverage Automated Cash Vouchers by updating the BIN number from 014798 to 028249. All existing pricing rules tied to your RxLocal plan remain unchanged. New patients will continue to have the RxLocal plan automatically added. BestRx and QS/1 customers will see cash transactions sent to BIN 028249.

Automated Cash Voucher messaging will look/feel the same as Automated Vouchers and Conversions. Example message: RXADV-AD1: RedSail has provided a $10 discount towards the patient copay. Please notify patient of this savings. Original copay: $50. New copay: $40.

Will this change the cash pricing I have set?

No. This program does not change your U&C pricing rules. The savings will appear similar to a voucher claim and will not reduce the total amount collected by the pharmacy.

How does this work with RxCash+? Do I need RxCash+ to participate?

The RxAdvantage Automated Cash Voucher automatically applies to RxCash+ claims. However, a pharmacy does not need to be enrolled in RxCash+ to receive Automated Cash Voucher.

Will I be charged for these transactions?

Claims submitted to BIN 028249 will not be charged a switching fee, as they are not being adjudicated to a third party.

How does reconciliation and reporting work?

RedSail (PowerLine) will supply 835 files, consistent with the current RxAdvantage copay assistance program. Email RASEnrollment@redsailtechnologies.com to set up where you need 835 files to be sent.

How do I receive payment from RedSail?

PioneerRx and QS/1 customers: If needed, please update your ACH information by emailing: RASEnrollment@redsailtechnologies.com. ACH enrollment enables weekly direct deposits and avoids processing fees and delays associated with paper check payments.

BestRx customers: Payment processing will remain the same as current copay programs. If your account is set for autopay via ACH, the funds will be deposited directly into your account. Otherwise, the funds will display credits on your monthly statement.
